IntroPosted by Barney Mon, September 07, 2009 23:13:41Started cycling with the
Bristol Wheelerzzz on the first meet this year in mid March 2009. This was on a cold Sunday morning. Enjoyed it so much I asked Alex (founder member) to add a wednesday ride. We've now added a Friday ride too. This first ride had 6 cyclist. Within one month this had grown to 15. Which you can see on the home page photo. A few weeks later the numbers peaked at 24. We now boast numbers of 20 core and 30 casual riders.
Initially we just cycled from Bristol to Bath. Then our first big ride was taking part in the big Bristol bike ride where 17 of us completed the 38 mile Cleveland route. We've done many other destinations since. Recently 8 members cycled to London (2 actually cycled back, tah rhass). Me thinks this shows the strentgh and commitment of our club.
This is one of the most enjoyable hobbies I've ever taken up. Made new friendships and connected with the old ones too. Hopefully we'll carry on spinning through the winter and into next year. It's only gonna go from strentgh to strentgh.
Just goes to show how something can start from nothing more than an idea. Aint got much more to say apart from...
I'm proud to be one of the
Wheelerzzz mhayn dem.
